New York Governor Andrew Cuomo Tuesday announced more than $75 million in federal Highway Safety Improvement Program funding for 33 projects. WAMC’s Allison Dunne has more on the projects being funded in the Hudson Valley.
Three projects will receive $2 million each. All are state Department of Transportation projects through which the federal funding was made available. One project is in Westchester County, to realign the intersection of Routes 172 and 117 in Mount Kisco, and add pedestrian signals at all four crosswalks. Another is to improve safety along the Route 302 corridor in the town of Crawford, in Orange County, by resurfacing the roadway and installing center-line rumble strips and pavement markings, guiderails, signs, and improved culverts. The third project will upgrade pedestrian crossings at 235 locations in the Hudson Valley.
