In New York, voters in three counties in the Hudson Valley will decide on county executive races. Just one of the races includes an incumbent.
In Westchester County, incumbent Republican Rob Astorino is seeking re-election to a second term. His challenger is Democratic New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson. Across the Hudson River in Rockland County, the race is among Democrat David Fried, Republican County Legislator Ed Day, and Thomas Sullivan, who has the Conservative line. Republican County Executive Scott Vanderhoef is not seeking re-election to a sixth term. In neighboring Orange County, the current county executive also is not seeking another term. Republican Ed Diana, who is recovering from liver transplant surgery over the weekend, had said earlier this year he would not run. Democratic County Legislator Roxanne Donnery faces off against Republican Chester Town Supervisor Steven Neuhaus, who also has the Independence and Conservative lines. A third candidate has the Working Families line.
