Two neighboring county executives in New York’s Hudson Valley have unveiled a Web portal to connect college students with internships.

Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino and Putnam County Executive MaryEllen Odell say the Web portal aims to connect students enrolled at local colleges with internship opportunities at employers throughout the two counties. The Westchester-Putnam Internship Connex program was developed by the Westchester-Putnam Workforce Investment Board in partnership with 13 area colleges, the Business Council of Westchester and other businesses. The county executives say they hope more college students will live and work in the area after graduation. The head of the Business Council says more than 90 businesses have signed up to participate, including Regeneron, ArtsWestchester, The New NY Bridge and the Westchester Bar Association.
