Hudson Valley heightens security after bombings

GOSHEN – Law enforcement across the Hudson Valley has heightened security in the wake of the Boston bombings that left three people dead and over 170 people injured on Monday. The attacks at the Boston Marathon were acts of terrorism, President Obama said Tuesday.

Orange County Sheriff Carl DuBois said law enforcement is concentrating on areas where large numbers of people gather.

“We are going to be very diligent with our train stations, our bus stations, any places of mass gatherings; we always look at shopping centers”, DuBois said.  “Our focus most of the time is going to be on where a lot of people congregate. He pointed to the large commuting public on both sides of the river that use Metro-North trains.

DuBois said the sheriff’s department marine unit is ready to be launched into the Hudson River at a moment’s notice.
