Skidmore Encore announces registration for its Fall 2025 lecture series delivered by the remarkable Skidmore College faculty for adult learners age 55+ from around the local region. Encore attracts intellectually curious people who are eager to learn. Join us! The 2025 program runs for seven weeks on Tuesdays from September 30 through November 11 in the gorgeous Arthur Zankel Music Center Skidmore College campus. This will be a talk with Suzanne Stokes discussing her artistic practice regarding the works in her exhibition ‘Sky•Land•Sea’ at Jane St. Art Center. The talk will provide insights into her work and offer a chance for questions and engagement with the artist. Join Hyde Collection curators Bryn Schockmel and Derin Tanyol, exhibiting artist Sharon Core, Erika Gaffney, founder of Art Herstory, and Amanda Malstrom, Associate Curator at Thomas Cole National Historic Site, in a conversation about still life--the subject of three exhibitions on view in The Hyde's fall/winter 2025 season. As a genre of art-making that historically has been considered the domain of women artists, still life in both painting and photography sparks question about gendered realms of artistic production, subjective versus style, and the boundaries between realism and artifice.
