Wine & Music Cultural Triptych: Wines of New Zealand

This September, Musicians of Ma’alwyck continues its acclaimed Wine & Music Cultural Series with a journey to the other side of the globe for Wines of New Zealand. The event takes place Friday, September 19, 2025, at 6:00 PM at WMHT Studios in partnership with WMHT, New Zealand–born radio host Charlotte Wilson, and celebrated sommelier Josh Turo of Yono’s.

Guests will enjoy a six-course menu of authentic New Zealand cuisine, prepared by Jeannette Balins, former owner of A Taste of Europe, with each course paired to a carefully selected wine. Throughout the evening, audiences will be treated to live performances of music from–and inspired by–New Zealand, including composers Douglas Lilburn, Ronald Tremain, and Alfred Hill, as well as poetry recitations from Wilson and reflections on her homeland, known as Aotearoa in the Māori language.
