The 25th Annual Albany History Fair

The 25th Annual Albany History Fair
Sunday, May 5, 12-4 p.m
Join us at Albany’s Yellow House on the Hill to explore the Capital City’s fascinating history on May 5th from noon to 4:00 p.m. Marking the quadricentennial of Fort Orange—the Dutch trading post that became Albany—the fair theme this year is 400 Years of Going Dutch. There will be scholars’ talks, living history demonstrations, special tours, collection highlights, exhibits by heritage partners, and family artmaking activities. Friends Union Band will perform historic tunes on 18th century period instruments 1-4pm. Come make a Delft-style tile, experience a 17th-century street-fighting demonstration, see Dutch artifacts, and learn about the excavation of Fort Orange from the dig’s lead archaeologist Paul Huey. Co-sponsored by Crailo State Historic Site, it will be a full day of activities, all exploring our region’s Dutch roots and cultural legacies.
