This March, every purchase of a $2.50 reusable Community Bag at the Big Y in Torrington, CT, supports the Housatonic Valley Association!
For every bag purchased, $1 will go toward HVA’s work to protect the natural resources and environmental health of the entire region, from the Berkshires, through western CT and eastern NY, to Long Island Sound. This supports river restoration projects that protect towns from extensive flooding, habitat protection for wildlife, and paid internship opportunities for the next generation of environmentalists.
Thank you for your support! Learn more at hvatoday.org.

One of the most unusual and artistic films in American indie history, The Man Without a World is credited to Soviet director Yevgeny Antinov . . . but that is far from the whole truth. Antinov is a persona created by contemporary filmmaker Eleanor Antin, a renowned artist, author, and performer. The film is a quirky, comic portrait of a Polish shtetl whose residents must survive both crushing poverty and their own internal political, cultural, and religious divisions. An amazing cast and crew includes Pier Marton, Christine Berry, Anna Henriques, Marcia Goodman, Don Sommese, and more.
Restoration funding was provided by the Sunrise Foundation for Education and the Arts, and a new score was composed and recorded by Alicia Svigals (violin) and Donald Sosin (piano).
Sosin and Svigals will perform live with the film. Since 2018 they have been delighting audiences throughout the United States and Europe with their stirring violin and piano scores for Jewish-themed silent films.Silent Film, 98 minutes, English Intertitles, 1991
Sosin is one of the world’s top silent film musicians, and Svigals is the world’s leading klezmer violinist and a founder of the Grammy-winning Klezmatics.

Walk With Us is a community action calling attention to transportation inequities impacting youth in the Capital Region. Students living within 1.5 miles of school are denied bus access, forcing many to walk regardless of weather, safety concerns, or after-school commitments, while fare enforcement continues to disproportionately impact working-class riders. Hosted by We Are Revolutionary and the Capital Region Fare-Free Transit Coalition, this walk demands fare-free transit across the Capital District. Transportation is access to education, employment, safety, and opportunity—because freedom requires mobility.
