Waterfront Revitalization Moves Ahead

Construction is set to begin on the Catskill Creek Walking Loop, as the Greene County village's five-year old waterfront revitalization program continues. The Daily Mail reports that the “bridge to bridge” loop will connect the historic Black Bridge, West Main Street, the Uncle Sam Bridge and Water Street in a pedestrian walking loop incorporating various path surfaces, lighting, boardwalks, benches and pocket parks. Planners say the idea is to highlight the creek, create a smoother connection between the waterfront and Main Street, and make downtown “safer, more comfortable and more attractive.”

In December, The village received a $600,000 state grant for the final design and construction phase of the walking loop project, with a target completion date of 2014.
