ALBANY – All counties in the Mid-Hudson/Catskills region experienced job growth for the 12 months ended in January with the exception of Sullivan, the State Labor Department reported Thursday.

Columbia County had the most job growth at 3.3 percent while Sullivan County lost 1.6 percent.

The Dutchess-Orange metro area had job growth of 2.1 percent while Ulster County grew by two percent. The Putnam-Rockland-Westchester County metro area had job growth of 0.6 percent.

Greene County jobs grew by 0.9 percent.

“The regional job market continues to expand, as evidenced by the 1.1 percent growth in private sector employment for the 12 month period ending in January 2013,” said labor analyst John Nelson. “The growth continues to be broad-based, with four industries posting an over the year growth of 2.3 percent or better. Educational and health services continue to be the region’s leading job generator. The sector grew by 2.3 percent year to year, adding 4,300 jobs – strongest January growth in three years.”
