GlobalFoundries plans to lay off 424 workers at its Malta, New York facility, according to the state labor department. Some 3,400 people work at the Saratoga County Fab 8 chip plant.
The layoffs are expected to start November 28th. The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification on the labor department’s website also lists 31 affected employees at GlobalFoundries’ Fuller Road site in Albany.
In June, the California-based company announced it was trimming its worldwide workforce of 18,000 employees by 8 percent.
