One Dead, Three Injured In Colonie Crash

https://www.facebook.com/ColoniePD/

The Colonie Police Department says one person is dead and three others are injured after a serious one-car crash on Central Avenue Wednesday morning.

Police say 24-year-old Lakhraj Premnauth of Schenectady, New York died after the car he was in, a 2001 Audi S4, crashed into a utility pole and split in half in front of 2141 Central Avenue. The driver, 17-year-old Veeshram Ramdeo, and two other passengers – 17-year-old Kenny Jamuant and 21-year-old Sunita Hansraj – were all hospitalized at Albany Medical Center with critical injuries.

Police say speed appears to be a factor in the crash, but an overall investigation into the cause is ongoing. Central Avenue was closed between Lisha Kill Road and Lansing Road for much of Wednesdsay — police say one westbound lane of Central Avenue remains closed as National Grid services the downed pole.
