United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region is coordinating a supply drive through Thursday, September 7 for items need by residents of Texas impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

United Way is working with Texas Diaper Bank and Feeding Texas, which is distributing directly to the Houston Food Bank, said United Way spokeswoman Emily Darrow.

“We reached out to both executive directors,” Darrow said. “They know it is coming.” All of the products sought are from lists provided by the local relief agencies in Texas.

Diapers, pull-ups, baby wipes, baby hygiene products, toys, books, adult diapers and personal hygiene products are needed as well as hand-held snacks, pop-top ready-to-eat foods and shelf-stable items like peanut butter, jelly and tuna, chili, beef stew and soup are needed.  Items may be dropped off at United Way offices at 75 Market Street in Poughkeepsie and 123 Grand Street in Newburgh.  Donations should be brought to either United Way officer before the close of business on Thursday, September 7.

On September 8, UPS Freight in Montgomery has offered to collect all boxes and transport them to the two Texas organizations for distribution.
