NY Congressman Plans Legislation On 3-D Printed Guns

A New York congressman says he will introduce legislation regarding 3-D printed gun files. This comes even after a federal court judge issued a preliminary injunction to block the Trump administration from allowing the distribution of such files.

Five U.S. representatives and a U.S. senator Friday toured one of four facilities in Westchester County holding migrant children separated from their families. Despite the Trump administration’s claims, the Democratic lawmakers say they do not see families being reunified.

Three Democratic members of Congress who together represent Westchester came together Saturday outside a facility in the county that is housing migrant children. Denied entry, the officials called on the Trump administration to immediately reunite children separated from their families who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally.

Additional testing has turned up higher levels of radioactive tritium in groundwater than what was reported last week at the Indian Point nuclear power plant. Plant officials say this is to be expected and stress there is no risk to public health and safety.

A New York congressman has called on Amazon to ban the sale of gun-shaped phone cases. Though officials say the online giant already has such a ban in place, one of its third-party retailers was able to slip through the cracks.

Democratic Congressman Eliot Engel last week called for the retail giant to stop the sale of cell phone cases that are made to look like guns. Although Amazon itself does not sell them, Engel found that a third-party retailer was able to list this type of case on Amazon’s online marketplace.

President Barack Obama stood on the banks of the Hudson River Wednesday, with the Tappan Zee Bridge as a backdrop. He was in Tarrytown to push a $302 billion transportation plan, and shine a light on a replacement bridge project already under way.

WASHINGTON – The US Department of Transportation has approved a $1.6 billion loan to help finance construction of the new Tappan Zee Bridge over the Hudson River between Westchester and Rockland counties.

The funding comes from the DOT’s Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act.

Governor Andrew Cuomo called the loan “a huge win for New York State.”

The issue of tolls to cross the new twin-span remains up in the air, the governor noted.
