National eyes are on two New York Democratic congressional primary races Tuesday in the lower Hudson Valley.

Longtime Congressman Eliot Engel faces a challenge from Progressive Jamaal Bowman, along with Chris Fink and Sammy Ravelo. Analysts say Bowman poses the biggest threat. Engel, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, represents the 16th District, which contains parts of the Bronx and lower Westchester County. There is a seven-way Democratic primary in the neighboring 17th District, which includes all of Rockland and part of Westchester, and where 16-term Congresswoman Nita Lowey is not seeking re-election. There is a Republican primary in the 17th District as well, and there is a Republican primary in New York’s 19th District to see who from the GOP will challenge Democratic Congressman Antonio Delgado in November.
