Two New York state lawmakers from the Hudson Valley have introduced legislation for a state and local tax workaround for partnerships. The hope is to counter what they call the negative impact of a state and local tax deduction cap under federal tax legislation signed three years ago.

Westchester-Long Island Tunnel Idea Re-Emerges

The idea of building a tunnel from Long Island to Westchester is not new.  New York Governor Andrew Cuomo during his State of the State address in early January said it’s worth revisiting in the name of alleviating traffic congestion. But some state Assemblymembers from Westchester doubt the concept will gain traction.


Two New York state assemblymembers from Westchester County are fighting back against the new federal tax law with legislation of their own. As for tax reforms Governor Andrew Cuomo proposed in his State of the State address earlier this month, the lawmakers say they’re awaiting details but generally like the concepts.

Three New York state assemblymembers from the lower Hudson Valley are calling for the new Common Core-linked tests to be scrapped. They say the tests are unfair assessments and costly to school districts. The State Education Department disagrees.
