Albany Film Festival

  • The Albany Film Festival hosts filmmakers and screens films that explore the craft of diverse storytelling in cinema, foster a deeper understanding of social justice and celebrate the human experience in all its dimensions.The festival includes in-depth panel discussions and how-to workshops with writers, screenwriters, filmmakers and film industry professionals, film critics and authors who have adapted their books into films. This year's Albany Film Festival takes place on 3/29.
  • Legendary actress Jacqueline Bisset and Oscar-winning filmmaker James Ivory headline the 4th annual Albany Film Festival. The all-day event, free and open to the public, will take place from 10:30 a.m. through 7 p.m. this Saturday, April 6, at the UAlbany Campus Center.Actors, authors, directors, producers, screenwriters, and movie critics come together with film fans for a full day of screenings and discussions capped by an awards ceremony.   • The New York State Writers Institute’s Third Annual Albany Film Festival takes place on Saturday, April 1 at the University at Albany. It is a celebration of the convergence of film and storytelling featuring a lineup of award-winning filmmakers, novelists, and screenwriters, screenings and conversations, and a presentation of the Ironweed Awards and short film awards.
  • The 2nd Annual Albany Film Festival -- featuring a number of "bookish" events, and events that emphasize writing – will be presented by the NYS Writers Institute on Saturday at the University at Albany. The Albany Film Festival is a very story-focused festival, with conversations about filmmakers as storytellers, book-to-film, writing vs. visual storytelling, screenwriting, criticism, and film history and biography. The emphasis is more on conversation and Q&A with guests than on screenings of full films.
