NBA:

The Golden State Warriors own a 3-0 lead in the NBA Finals following a 118-113 comeback win over the Cavaliers in Cleveland. Kevin Durant had a team-high 31 points for Golden State, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with 45 seconds left. Klay Thompson had 30 points for the Warriors, who trailed by six with six minutes to play.

NHL:

Tonight is Game 5 of the Stanley Cup finals, Nashville takes on the Penguins in Pittsburgh at 8 p.m. The series is tied at 2 games apiece.

Los Angeles Kings forward Tyler Toffoli has agreed to a three-year, $13.8 million extension. Toffoli was to become a restricted free agent after getting 16 goals and 18 assists in 63 games with the Kings last year. He has been among Los Angeles' most consistent offensive players since cracking the NHL lineup during the 2012-13 season.

MLB:

CC Sabathia has won his fifth consecutive start by scattering five hits over eight innings of the New York Yankees' 8-0 blowout over the Boston Red Sox. Chris Carter slammed a three-run homer and had four RBIs to back Sabathia's seventh win in nine decisions. The Yankees now lead the American League East by two games over Boston.

Jay Bruce homered twice and the New York Mets scored the tiebreaking run in the ninth inning on a throwing error by second baseman Rougned Odor to beat the Texas Rangers 4-3. With two on and two outs, Jose Reyes hit a chopper up the middle against reliever Matt Bush. Odor fielded the ball but bounced his throw to second while fading away from the bag. Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus was unable to hold on for an inning-ending forceout as pinch-runner Matt Reynolds scored from second base.

Boston Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy has apologized for his on-air remarks that pitchers such as Yankees star Masahiro Tanaka shouldn't be allowed translators on the mound. Remy apologized on Twitter a day after he said during the NESN telecast of the game between Boston and New York that pitchers such as the Japanese-born Tanaka should "learn baseball language."

Two weeks after sustaining a concussion, New York Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury isn't sure when he will return. Closer Aroldis Chapman, out since May 12 with rotator cuff inflammation, is to throw a simulated game this week at the Yankees' facility in Tampa, Florida, and then could start a minor league injury rehabilitation assignment before he is activated.

Nolan Arenado drove in three runs and Charlie Blackmon had two RBIs as the Rockies won their fourth in a row, 8-1 over Cleveland. Kyle Freeland improved to 7-3 by holding the Indians to a run and six hits while striking out five over 6 1/3 innings. Colorado leads the National League with 38 wins and continues to pace the NL West by two games over Los Angeles.

Mariners shortstop Jean Segura has accepted a five-year, $70 million extension that runs through 2022. The new deal comes as Segura leads the American League in batting at .341. He was the centerpiece of one of Seattle's biggest offseason moves, acquired from Arizona as part of a five-player trade. Segura batted .319 and led the National League in hits last season.

In other MLB news:

— Struggling reliever Sam Dyson has been dealt to the Giants by the Rangers, less than a week after he was designated for assignment. Dyson is off to a miserable start this season, going 1-6 with a 10.80 ERA in 17 relief appearances. He was solid in 2016, posting 38 saves and compiling a 2.43 earned run average.

— Right-hander Edwin Jackson will resume his lengthy major league career with Baltimore, which will be his 12th different big league team. The Orioles selected Jackson's contract from Triple-A Norfolk. The 33-year-old launched his career in 2003 with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

— The Pirates have placed catcher Francisco Cervelli on the seven-day concussion disabled list, one day after he took a foul ball off his mask during a 6-5 loss at Baltimore. Cervelli is batting .252 with three home runs and 20 RBIs in 47 games.

NFL:

Nashville police are investigating a misdemeanor assault complaint made by a man who says former Buffalo Bills and New York Jets coach Rex Ryan grabbed him by the neck. Police spokesman Don Aaron says no arrests have been made and no charges are presently outstanding. Ryan coached the Jets from 2009-14 and the Bills from 2015-16.

Tennis:

The French Open men's semifinals will have top seed Andy Murray versus No. 3 Stan Wawrinka and fourth seed Rafael Nadal against No. 6 Dominic Thiem. Murray won his quarterfinal match in four sets on Wednesday. Wawrinka and Thiem each earned straight-sets victories, and Nadal was leading 6-2, 2-0 before Pablo Carreno Busta retired because of an abdominal injury. Second seed Karolina Pliskova and No. 3 Simona Halep were quarterfinal winners on the women's side.

Religion In Sports:

Muslim student athletes at one U.S. high school no longer have to be slowed down by worries that their headscarves might fall off. Deering High School in Portland, Maine, is providing sport hijabs with the goal of making Muslim girls comfortable. The co-captains of the school's tennis team raised more than $800 online to buy the sporty hijabs for their Muslim teammates. The high school is believed to be the first in the U.S. to provide hijabs for Muslim athletes.

Car Racing:

A new museum that tells the story of New England's race cars and drivers opens Monday at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The North East Motor Sports Museum will offer visitors a chance to see nearly 40 race cars, motorcycles and even a snowmobile. But the museum is opening at a challenging time. NASCAR is moving one race from New Hampshire to Las Vegas, and national TV audiences for NASCAR's Sprint Cup have fallen. The number of fans in the stands is down too.

Racing in the America's Cup challenger semifinals has been postponed a day due to wind exceeding the 24-knot limit and big waves on Bermuda's Great Sound. The postponement comes a day after Emirates Team New Zealand capsized at the start of a race against Britain's Land Rover BAR, throwing three sailors into the water and causing serious damage to the 50-foot catamaran.

WNBA:

Tina Charles had 18 points and 15 rebounds to help the New York Liberty beat the Atlanta Dream 76-61 yesterday in the annual school day matinee game. Sugar Rodgers added 16 points for the Liberty, who have won three straight games. Rookie Brittney Sykes and Tiffany Hayes led the Dream with 14 points.

When the WNBA's collective bargaining agreement runs out in a few years, an injury list or roster expansion will be one of the issues that the union discusses with the league. As it stands now, teams are hamstrung with what they can do with players who are hurt during the season.

Horse Racing:

Irish War Cry is returning to the Triple Crown trail as the 7-2 favorite for the Belmont Stakes. The colt claimed that status after expected favorite Classic Empire was forced out because of an abscess in his right front hoof. Irish War Cry finished 10th in the Kentucky Derby and skipped the Preakness.

Classic Empire is out of the Belmont Stakes because of an abscess in his right front foot. Trainer Mark Casse says the abscess found yesterday is a recurrence of the same problem that bothered the colt after his loss in the Holy Bull in February. Classic Empire was expected to be the favorite for Saturday's 1½-mile finale of the Triple Crown series.

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay hopes he's cooked up another winner in the Belmont Stakes. Flay purchased 25 percent interest in J Boys Echo before the draw that assigned post positions for Saturday's $1.5 million race.

USA Football:

USA Football is introducing a new developmental pilot program in 11 youth leagues this fall. Participants in Rookie Tackle leagues will play on a 40-yard by 35-yard field and with six to eight players on each team. The program is designed to help flag football players become more acclimated to tackle football.
