The Indians also say pitcher Cody Anderson will undergo Tommy John surgery that will cause him to miss the entire season.

Ryan Newman's late gamble allowed him to win the Monster Energy Cup race at Phoenix International Raceway. Newman skipped a tire-changing pit stop to take the lead from deep of the pack. He held on for the final two laps to break a 127-race winless streak. Newman also halted a 112-race losing skid for Richard Childress Racing. Kyle Larson finished second for the third straight race. Kyle Busch was the leader for almost all of the final stage before taking third. Ricky Stenhouse was fourth, followed by Brad Keselowski.

PGA:

Marc Leishman has earned a berth in the Masters next month by rallying to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. The Australian went ahead by sinking a 50-foot eagle putt on 16 before closing with two tough pars to complete a one-stroke win over Kevin Kisner and Charley Hoffman. Lehman closed with a 66 for a 21 under total.
