Dunne fired a 6-under 66 for a 12-under total, leaving him tied with Jason Day and Louis Oosthuizen. Jordan Spieth is one stroke back as he tries to become the second player to win the Masters, U.S. Open and British Open in the same year.

The 22-year-old Dunne is the first amateur to have a share of the lead in the Open after three rounds since Bobby Jones in 1927.

South Korea's Chella Choi won the LPGA's Marathon Classic by edging countrywoman Ha Na Jang in a playoff. They completed regulation tied at 14 under par before Choi won it with a par on the first playoff hole. It was the first career victory for Choi, who has been on the LPGA Tour since 2009. Jang is in her rookie year. Lydia Ko and Shanshan Feng tied for third at 13-under.

NASCAR:

Kyle Busch has won Sunday's Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway to move closer to landing a spot in the Chase. Busch has won two straight races and three overall since missing the first 11 starts of the season because of a broken leg suffered the day before the Daytona 500. Brad Keselowski was second in New Hampshire, followed by Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano and Dale Earnhardt Jr.

WNBA:

In the WNBA, Minnesota beat Tulsa 79-72, Chicago bested San Antonio 93-82, and it was Washington over Connecticut 89-82.

CONCACAF – Gold Cup:

Mexico has moved into the Gold Cup semifinals with a 1-0 victory over Costa Rica.

Andres Guardado scored the lone goal on a penalty kick in the second and final minute of stoppage time in extra time. Roy Miller was whistled for a questionable foul on Oribe Peralta with the game seconds from going to penalty kicks.

Mexico next faces Panama on Wednesday in Atlanta. Panama advanced by beating Trinidad and Tobago on penalty kicks, 6-5.

Horse Racing:

Jockey Trevor McCarthy was taken to a hospital for neurological testing after he was tossed from his mount during the feature race at Monmouth Park on Sunday.

The 21-year-old jockey was aboard Calypso Run, a 3-year-old filly who was moving up along the rail in the $70,000 Miss Woodford Stakes when she clipped heels at the top of the stretch.

Track medical director Angelo Chinnici said McCarthy had a severe headache, so he was due to have a CAT scan and other neurological tests.

A native of Wilmington, Delaware, McCarthy has ridden 25 winners from 165 mounts during Monmouth's current meet, placing him fourth in the track's overall standings.

NCAA:

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has named Lee McIlroy Jr. director of athletics removing the interim tag. He served 14 years in the same position at UAlbany.

Tour de France:

Andre Greipel took his third stage victory of this Tour de France by winning a bunch sprint at the end of Stage 15, while Britain's Chris Froome remained in control of the overall race lead. Because of its flat finish, the stage represented the last opportunity for sprinters to shine before climbers take back the spotlight in the Alps next week.
