Sports Report: NCAA Championship Tonight

NCAA:

In women's college basketball, UConn is one win away from a third straight national championship. The Huskies beat Maryland 81-58 last night in the Final Four. UConn faces Notre Dame once again in the title game tomorrow night.

In men’s college basketball, Wisconsin takes on Duke in the championship tonight in Indianapolis at 9:18 p.m. Wisconsin upset Kentucky’s chances for a perfect season on Saturday beating the Wildcats , 71-64 while Duke beat Michigan State on Saturday 81-61.

Meanwhile,  Kentucky guard Andrew Harrison has apologized for directing an obscenity and a racial slur at Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky during a postgame news conference at the Final Four. The comments came following Saturday night's loss to the Badgers. Harrison said the two of them had a "good conversation" and he wished Kaminsky good luck in Monday's championship game against Duke.

MLB:

The first day of Major League Baseball ended yesterday when St. Louis blanked the Cubs 3-0. On opening day for the rest of baseball today, Toronto sees the Yankees in New York at 1, Boston is in Philadelphia at 3:05, and the Mets are in Washington at 4:00.

The Major League All-Star game is returning to the Nation's Capital.

A person familiar with the plans tells The Associated Press that Commissioner Rob Manfred intends to announce tomorrow that Washington will host the 2018 All-Star Game.

Washington hasn't hosted the game since 1969. It would be the fourth consecutive National League team to host baseball's All-Star Game. Cincinnati will host this year's midsummer classic followed by San Diego next year and Miami in 2017.

NBA:

In the NBA, New York bested Philadelphia 101-91, the Clippers topped the Lakers 106-78, Cleveland beat Chicago 99-94, Indiana won against Miami 112-89, Houston bested Oklahoma City 115-112, the Clippers defeated the Lakers 106-78, and it was San Antonio over Golden State 107-92.

NHL:

Over on the ice, Philadelphia beat Pittsburgh 4-1, Montreal won against Florida 4-1, Washington topped Detroit 2-1, Toronto edged Ottawa in a shootout 3-2, and it was St. Louis over Chicago 2-1.
