Sports Report: Thanksgiving Day Football

NFL:

In the NFL on Thanksgiving Day football, Detroit beat Chicago 34-17. Calvin Johnson caught 11 passes for 146 yards and a pair of second-quarter touchdowns for the Lions. Elsewhere Philadelphia defeated Dallas 33-10. Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for a touchdown and ran for another. Meanwhile Richard Sherman picked off two passes as the Seattle Seahawks stifled the San Francisco 49ers 19-3.

On Sunday at 1, the New York Giants are in Jacksonville, Cleveland is in Buffalo, and then at 4:25 New England is in Green Bay. On Monday Night Football Miami is in the Meadowlands to face the Jets.

NHL:

Over on the ice, Nashville blanked Edmonton 1-0.

FIFA:

Five officials, including three long-serving FIFA executive committee members, are being investigated in the corruption probe into the bidding contests for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. The current FIFA board members under investigation are FIFA vice president Angel Maria Villar of Spain, Michel D'Hooghe of Belgium and Worawi Makudi of Thailand. The others are German great Franz Beckenbauer and Harold Mayne-Nicholls.

NCAAW:

In Top 25 Women’s college basketball, No. 22 Syracuse beat East Carolina 69-58.
