Rep. Delgado Announces His SOTU Guest

New York Congressman Antonio Delgado has announced who he will bring as his guest to the State of the Union address.

Democratic 19th District Congressman will bring Chatham Police Chief Peter Volkmann to the State of the Union Tuesday to highlight the importance of addressing the opioid epidemic. Volkmann developed the “Chatham Cares 4 U” (CC4U) Initiative, which creates pathways to recovery by connecting users of opioids and other addictive drugs to resources instead of incarceration. Delgado spoke on the House floor Wednesday, announcing his guest from Columbia County and the success of the program.

“Our work to address this urgent priority is ongoing and will require both the attention and continued cooperation of all levels of government, law enforcement and our first responders," Delgado says. "In that vein, I hope to hear from the President on Tuesday that he is committed to bipartisan, comprehensive solutions to address the opioid crisis in upstate New York and all across this country."
