Efforts to combat climate change and to improve health equity in the largest city in western Massachusetts are getting a boost from a private philanthropy.
The Kresge Foundation has awarded the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts a $600,000 grant to advance the work of the Live Well Springfield Climate Justice Coalition.
The members of the coalition advocate for policies to address the climate crisis and to reduce health risks in low-income communities.
