The Pittsfield, Massachusetts police department says a potentially deadly batch of heroin has hit the streets.

Lieutenant Gary Traversa says the heroin has been linked to fatal and non-fatal overdoses in other Western Massachusetts communities, and goes by many names.

“Power, which we’ve also got information was rebagged into Avengers 2 and Red Bull, and also a fourth one that is highly dangerous that is labeled Jumanji,” the lieutenant told WAMC.

Traversa confirmed to WAMC that it has been found in the city already.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
