Officials Ask White House For Additional Storm Aid

Robert Lawton/Wikimedia Commons

Members of upstate New York’s congressional delegation are urging the White House to release aid to individuals affected by the Halloween storms that caused widespread flooding and wind damage.

President Trump issued a major disaster declaration and approved storm recovery aid for municipalities in December, however, a request for Individual Assistance for several New York counties was denied.

On Friday, Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, as well as Representatives Elise Stefanik and Anthony Brindisi wrote to the president seeking funding they called necessary for individuals in Essex, Hamilton, Herkimer, and Oneida counties.
Individual Assistance funding can be used to support services like housing and disaster unemployment assistance, and crisis counseling.
