NYS Grant Funds Science Lab Initiative

A state grant will enable a new school science initiative to get underway in a portion of the Hudson Valley.

The Benjamin Center for Public Policy Initiatives at the State University of New York at New Paltz and New York state Assemblymember Kevin Cahill announced the Science Lab Initiative, intended to build middle and high school student interest in science education through state-of-the-art science labs and programming. The nine schools in Cahill’s 103rd Assembly District, which includes portions of Ulster and Dutchess Counties, will have the opportunity to receive $50,000 to create a science and technology lab. The Benjamin Center will administer the $500,000 grant and provide support to each school district in the development and implementation phase.
