NYS Legislature Passes Bill For Rondout Creek

The New York state legislature passed a bill that designates a Hudson Valley creek as an inland waterway.

Democrat Kevin Cahill sponsored the legislation in the Assembly and Republican George Amedore, in the Senate. Cahill says an inland waterway designation for the Rondout Creek will afford communities along the Creek access to state funding through the Department of Environmental Conservation for waterfront revitalization projects. Cahill says some of these communities are still recovering from Superstorm Sandy and Hurricanes Irene and Lee. Cahill anticipates Governor Andrew Cuomo will sign the measure into law.
