The outcome in New York’s 49th state Senate district is yet to be determined.
Democrat Thearse McCalmon is running against Republican Senator Jim Tedisco, who is seeking a third term. McCalmon says it will likely take days to get an accurate count.
"All of the Republican districts are voting exactly how we thought they would. Republican. We have about almost 30,000 absentee votes to count."
Around midnight, unofficial results showed Tedisco with 78,000 votes to McCalmon’s 38,000 with 186 of 228 precincts reporting.
"It's been amazing and it's been fun and I can't wait to get the final results. Omigosh I'm so nervous.”
