A fifth candidate — and fourth Democrat — is running for mayor of Plattsburgh.
Democratic Clinton County Legislator Chris Rosenquest kicked off his campaign Wednesday.
In an email announcing his candidacy, Rosenquest said the most pressing need for the city is “open lines of communication and transparency.” He says all mayoral candidates must take a stance on the Durkee Street redevelopment, saying he is pro-development but “not at the expense of our community partnerships.”
Rosenquest has served on the county legislature representing part of the city of Plattsburgh since 2016. He ran for mayor in 2013 as an independent, losing a three-way race to Republican James Calnon.
Two other Democrats and a Republican have already announced a challenge to incumbent Democrat Colin Read.
