Two breweries in Lake Placid are closed for two weeks after staff members tested positive for COVID-19.
The Lake Placid Pub & Brewery and Big Slide Brewery & Public House voluntarily suspended operations on Thursday.

The Essex County Health Department reports that two employees at the breweries are in isolation after testing positive and several staff members are under orders to isolate at home.

One affected employee was quarantining due to an unrelated exposure before learning about the positive result. The second individual had also begun quarantining due to contact with the other person.

The Health Department determined all staff were at risk of exposure but public exposure risk is low.

November 6,2020:   An email from breweries owner Chris Ericson tells WAMC:  "The Health Department did NOT determine all staff were at risk as you report, in fact they put six people under quarantine, including the two that tested positive. No other staff members were deemed at risk but, out of an abundance of caution, we decided to close until Nov 15th to break any potential COVID chains - this was our decision and not mandated by the DOH."
