Djokovic tops Kyrgios for 7th Wimbledon, 21st Slam trophy
WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — Novak Djokovic has defeated Nick Kyrgios 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (3) in the men’s final at the All England Club for a fourth consecutive Wimbledon championship and seventh overall. The top-seeded Djokovic has won 28 matches in a row at Wimbledon and raised his career haul to 21 major trophies. That puts him just one behind rival Rafael Nadal’s 22 for the most in the history of men’s tennis. The 35-year-old Djokovic became the second oldest Wimbledon men's champion in the professional era. The 40th-ranked Kyrgios was trying to become the first unseeded men’s champion at Wimbledon since Goran Ivanisevic in 2001. Ivanisevic is now Djokovic’s coach and was in the Centre Court guest box for the match.

United lost 7-0 on Friday night at the Philadelphia Union, matching the MLS record for largest margin of defeat.
Analysis: Lillard shows NBA players have power to stay, too
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Damian Lillard’s story is a reminder. NBA players may be more empowered now than ever before. They can align with their friends and form superteams. They can force trades even though asking for one publicly is against league rules. They can get coaches fired. Or they can do what Lillard has done in Portland. The Trail Blazers guard and a few other All-Stars decided to stay in one place and try to win a ring instead of bouncing around from team to team and chase one.
Schauffele wins Scottish Open, 4th victory in the last year
NORTH BERWICK, Scotland (AP) — Xander Schauffele had gone more than two years without winning. Now he has four titles in the last 12 months. The latest was at the Scottish Open, and it wasn't easy. The consolation for Kitayama was earning one of three spots in the British Open. Schauffele won his previous start at the Travelers Championship. He goes to St. Andrews as one of the hottest players in golf.

He played 33 holes Sunday, competing a 5-under 67 in the delayed third round and following with a 66 to finish at 25-under 263. The former Alabama player also gets spots in the 2023 PGA Championship and Tournament of Champions.

It was another moment in the league’s continued push for Griner’s release from her detention in Russia. Griner has been detained since February after police at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport said they found vape canisters containing cannabis oil in her luggage. Las Vegas aces guard Kelsey Plum was named MVP after she scored 30 points for Team Wilson in her first All-Star appearance.
Elliott holds off LaJoie, giving Georgian 1st Atlanta win
HAMPTON, Ga. (AP) — Chase Elliott got by Corey LaJoie with just under two laps to go and crossed the finish line under yellow after a block sent LaJoie crashing into the wall. That gave Georgia-born driver his first victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Elliott pulled back around in front of the main grandstand, greeted by a boisterous ovation from fans who cheered loudly every time he went to the front. The wild capper to another eventful Atlanta race denied LaJoie the first victory of his career, which would’ve been a huge upset. It was Elliott taking the checkered flag under yellow.
