Dr. Deborah Birx of the White House Coronavirus Task Force said Tuesday that people who have left New York City should self-quarantine for 14 days to prevent further spread.
With New York state reporting the most COVID-19 cases in the country, Dr. Birx says the virus is still spreading because people are leaving New York City.
“About 56% of all the cases in the United States are coming out of that metro area,” Birx said. “And 60% of all the new cases are coming out of the metro New York area.”
Birx says Long Island is seeing new cases, suggesting it is spreading from the city.
