NYSNA Nurses To Demonstrate In Schenectady Friday

Registered nurses with the New York State Nurses Association are planning to demonstrate in Schenectady Friday.

The nurses say they will rally at Ellis Hospital and Bellevue Woman’s Center, demanding what they call safer staffing, better working conditions, and better patient care.

Nurses from Albany Medical Center are expected to join the rallies. Albany Medical Center nurses recently joined the New York State Nurses Association and have been trying to reach a contract deal with the hospital.

A statement from Ellis Medicine emailed to WAMC says the hospital respects the rights of its unionized nurses to picket and that “we remain committed to bargaining in good faith with the goal of achieving a contract that is fair, competitive and financially feasible in today’s challenging healthcare environment.”
