President Donald Trump and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo met at the White House Thursday to discuss the federal government’s suspension of trusted traveler programs in New York.

The administration said the state’s Green Light Law was to blame when it announced the change earlier this month.

Acting Department of Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf said he attended the meeting and added that the relationship between the federal government and New York “has been made difficult by unilateral actions” of New York state related to sharing security information. Wolf says discussions with New York will continue.

A spokeswoman for Governor Cuomo says New York remains willing to allow federal officials to access state DMV records for people applying to trusted traveler programs, and said the suspension was politically motivated. The statement says President Trump said he wants to work on the issue and will follow up with Governor Cuomo next week.
