New York Students And Volunteers Will Travel To Puerto Rico For Aid Mission

Wikipedia

A group of New York students and labor volunteers will leave for an aid trip to Puerto Rico next weekend.

The deployment set for June 17th is part of the summer-long NY Stands With Puerto Rico Recovery And Rebuilding Initiative.

Governor Andrew Cuomo detailed the aid mission on Sunday.

The initial deployment of 100 students from SUNY and CUNY schools and nearly 20 skilled labor volunteers will stay for two weeks and will assist non-profit rebuilding organizations on the island.

Cuomo, a Democrat, has been critical of the federal response to Hurricane Maria, where the death toll has been recently speculated to be significantly higher than original estimates.
