Child Injured After Falling From Willard Mountain Ski Lift

A 5-year-old boy is hospitalized after he fell nearly 20 feet from a chair lift at an upstate New York ski area.

The owner of Willard Mountain Ski Center in Easton in Washington County tell local media that the boy was on a chair headed up the mountain Tuesday afternoon when he slipped under the safety bar. A teenage skier riding with the boy held on to him before losing his grip.

The boy fell about 18 feet, landing on frozen ground.

The boy was crying and talking before he was taken by helicopter to Albany Medical Center, where hospital officials say he's listed in fair condition Wednesday.

The accident comes two days after a 44-year-old Brooklyn woman died when she fell about 25 feet from a chair lift at Hunter Mountain ski area in the Catskills.
