No one wants to buy the Glens Falls Civic Center.
No bidders showed up for Monday's 11 a.m. auction, where the minimum bid to buy the city-owned arena was $1.5 million. The cash-strapped city has been moving to unload the arena, which it says loses money, in recent weeks.
The city will now make a decision about what comes next in the coming week. The Coalition To Save Our Civic Center says it hopes to keep the arena operating as a regional asset and is raising money, so far $600,000, in hopes of preventing the sale to a private entity.
The arena hosts minor league hockey, concerts, high school basketball and other events.
