The Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health in Stockbridge, Massachusetts is closing for six weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a statement on its website, the center says it will cancel all events starting Friday and close its campus until April 24th.

Kripalu, originally built as a Jesuit seminary in 1957, sits on a hillside overlooking the Stockbridge Bowl. It attracts tens of thousands of visitors to the Berkshires annually.

Josh Landes has been WAMC's Berkshire Bureau Chief since February 2018, following stints at WBGO Newark and WFMU East Orange. A passionate advocate for Western Massachusetts, Landes was raised in Pittsfield and attended Hampshire College in Amherst, receiving his bachelor's in Ethnomusicology and Radio Production. His free time is spent with his cat Harry, experimental electronic music, and exploring the woods.
