Human Remains Found In Hatfield Identified As Joanne Ringer

Officials say human remains discovered in the woods of Hatfield belong to a Clarksburg, Massachusetts woman missing for the past year.

Joanne Ringer disappeared on March 2nd, 2017, on her way to start her first shift at a taxi company in Easthampton. The discovery of her car four days later was the last anyone would hear from Ringer — until Thursday, almost a year to the day later.

The Berkshire District Attorney’s office says remains found in the woods of Hatfield were confirmed to be Ringer’s by a forensics expert, which “at least brings some closure on the family’s end,” said Bob Dunn, who covered the case for the Berkshire Eagle.

“This is the thing that they’ve been waiting for all of this time,” said Dunn.

Ringer’s husband, Charles Reidy, considered the prime suspect in the case, took his own life in April of 2017.
