More mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus have been found in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
The state Department of Public Health confirmed Friday the presence of West Nile virus in two more samples collected by the Berkshire County Mosquito Control Project.
All together, five such samples have been found in Pittsfield this year.
A truck-mounted spray application is scheduled for Tuesday evening on all roads within a one-mile radius of the Wahconah Street and Pecks Road intersection.
West Nile occurs most frequently in August. Stagnant water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
West Nile was also found in Richmond in early July.
The next round of results come back Thursday.
Since 2011, there have been 58 cases of West Nile in mosquitoes and one human case in Berkshire County. Last year, there were fewer mosquitoes due to a statewide drought. Out of the 136 samples collected in 2016, one contained the West Nile virus.
