Kohan Retail, Berkshire Mall Face Another Lawsuit

The owners of the Berkshire Mall in Lanesborough, Massachusetts are facing a civil suit from contracted employees.

When the Berkshire Mall was purchased by Kohan Retail Investment Group in 2016, it continued to employ its janitorial and housekeeping services through a contract with a Boston-based maintenance company, UG2.

The contract, negotiated by the mall’s previous owners, will expire in August 2018.

UG2 filed a lawsuit in Berkshire Superior Court on Monday alleging Kohan did not make contractually obligated payments – roughly $143,000, including interest.

Earlier this year, a court ordered the mall’s owners to pay $245,000 it owed to a construction company for snowplowing services.
