The Vermont Supreme Court has rejected an appeal of a man serving a life sentence in the kidnapping and killing of a St. Johnsbury Academy teacher in 2012.
Allen Prue and his wife, Patricia, were convicted of killing Melissa Jenkins after luring her with a ruse about a broken-down vehicle.
Allen Prue's lawyer appealed to the state Supreme Court, saying in part that the trial court erred by excluding evidence of Patricia Prue's psychiatric diagnosis and admitting evidence of her internet search history. His lawyer also said that Allen Prue's confession should be suppressed because his waiver of his Miranda rights and confession were not voluntary.
The Vermont Supreme Court on Friday disagreed and affirmed Prue's convictions and sentence.
