Wife Refuses To Testify During Teacher Death Trial

A Vermont woman charged along with her husband in the strangulation death of a St. Johnsbury teacher has appeared in court, but she invoked her right not to testify.

Patricia Prue of Waterford took the stand Wednesday in the first-degree murder trial of her husband, Allen Prue. But after saying where she lived and that she was aware of the date March 25, 2012, she refused to answer more questions.

The Burlington Free Press reports Patricia Prue glanced at Allen Prue as she was led into the Burlington courtroom.

The Prues are charged with killing 33-year-old Melissa Jenkins after luring her from her home. Both pleaded not guilty. Patricia Prue will be tried separately.

Allen Prue's attorney argues that Patricia Prue killed Jenkins, not his client.
