The head of Vermont's first official branch of the NAACP says the organization has received several discrimination complaints since it opened this year.
Mary Brown-Guillory, the president the Champlain Area NAACP, says some of the reports involve discrimination when individuals are trying to rent or buy a house.
Brown-Guillory tells Vermont Public Radio there have been incidents in which people of color were shown houses that were far below the price range they were approved for.
She says she's been told that students at South Burlington High School have worn shirts with the Confederate flag. The high school decided against changing its "Rebel" mascot in October.
The NAACP chapter officially opened in July.
