Federal prosecutors are recommending a 10-month prison sentence for a former congressional candidate convicted in a scheme to hide consulting payments to former Connecticut Governor John Rowland.Lisa Wilson-Foley pleaded guilty in March to a single conspiracy count.
Prosecutors said she, her husband Brian Foley and Rowland conspired to hide Rowland's role in the campaign by creating a bogus contract that made it look like the former Connecticut governor was being paid the $35,000 to provide services to Foley's nursing home company.
Prosecutors are recommending a more lenient sentence for Brian Foley, who testified against Rowland. They have recommended Rowland serve more than three years in prison.
Rowland is to be sentenced Jan. 7 and followed by Foley Jan. 9. Lisa Wilson-Foley’s sentencing is Jan. 13.
