Due to what it’s calling heavy interest, Massachusetts is extending its payment deadline for people who want a state-based health insurance plan to December 28th. But, people must still choose a plan by the end of today.Maydad Cohen, special assistant for project delivery, says the Massachusetts Health Connector will accept online and paper payments through Sunday, Dec. 28th, but people must still select a specific plan by the end of Tuesday. The website went down for about a half hour Tuesday. Last week Cohen said he expected high volumes as the deadline for coverage as of January 1st neared.
“We know we’ve built a website capable of handling the type of volume that’s going to come in,” Cohen said.
The Connector’s call center will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday in addition to its normal Saturday hours.
