The Rockland County District Attorney has announced charges against six people in connection with a fatal March fire at an assisted living facility. Spring Valley firefighter Jared Lloyd and a resident died in the fire at Evergreen Court Home for Adults. DA Tom Walsh said Tuesday that Nathaniel Sommer and his son Aaron are facing the same charges.

"Two counts of manslaughter in the second degree, one count of arson in the fourth for recklessly damaging a building, two counts of assault in the second degree, seven counts of assault in the third degree and two counts of reckless endangerment in the second degree," said Walsh.

Two people, who Walsh says were village employees at the time of the fire, are charged with filing false reports to the state regarding fire inspections. Two others face charges for their actions within the facility prior to the start of the fire.

Walsh says the investigation is continuing.

"Please make no mistake, this investigation is not over and will continue into the events that led to this tragic catastrophe and underlying governmental misfeasance," said Walsh.
