SUFFERN, N.Y. (AP) — The FBI says agents with a search warrant entered a town hall in the Hudson Valley Wednesday and told employees to leave for the day.

A Bureau spokesman would not say what they were looking for at Ramapo Town Hall in Rockland County. He also would not say if the search is part of a new investigation or an existing case. In April, the mayor and deputy mayor of Spring Valley, a village within Ramapo, were among those elected officials in New York indicted in a political corruption case linked with an alleged plot to rig the New York City mayoral race for state Senator Malcolm Smith. Mayor Noramie Jasmin and Deputy Mayor Joseph Desmaret pleaded not guilty, as did the four others in the federal case. Jasmin and Desmaret remain in office. It is not known if the raid in Ramapo has any connection with this or any other corruption case.
