A county marine unit in New York’s Hudson Valley has increased enforcement on the Hudson River in response to unsafe activity by jet-ski operators and others.

The Westchester County Police Marine Unit recently conducted increased enforcement on the Hudson River near Croton Point Park. County Police Commissioner Thomas Gleason says the added enforcement is in response to community complaints and an uptick in unsafe activity. The unit has issued multiple summonses for violations of navigation law. County police will also continue to encourage social distancing on and along the river, including on boats that have tied up together in a group. Gleason says his department has received complaints that some people are moving from boat to boat without wearing masks or maintaining social distancing. The increased enforcement will continue at least through Labor Day weekend.
